When India's prestigious LNG vessel and one of the proud possessions of Petronet- Disha carrying  LNG, laid its anchor  again on the LNG port of Dahej, it had already created history in Indian energy sector. It was indeed an unprecedented  feat, beyond compare and worth celebrating that  our chartered LNG Ship Disha which arrived at Dahej LNG terminal  on 30^th January 2004 carrying the first ever LNG consignment to Indian soil again achieved the landmark of being 1000^th LNG cargo to berth in the same terminal which took 9 years & 26 days. It was indeed a momentous coincidence and a rare feat for Petronet & its family.

To make this moment memorable forever, an event was organized at Dahej terminal.  The occasion was solicited by the presence of some key members of Petronet family namely, Shri Vivek Rae, Secretary, MoPNG & Chairman, Petronet LNG Ltd, CMDs/Directors of promoting companies and leaders from other business associates.

Ceremonies began on arrival of Disha at the Dahej port with a cake cutting ceremony to pay tribute to 1000^th successful berthing. Traditional auspicious LAMP-LIGHTENING ceremony marked the start of the celebrations for arrival of 1000^th ship. Petronet choir song 'Taral Saral' by its employees was followed by the welcome speech of Dr A K Balyan, MD & CEO. He said that achievement of 1000th Cargo for an LNG Terminal is not an easy task, though this milestone has already been achieved by some of the busiest terminals of the World but it took them more than 18 years to reach the landmark. Petronet LNG has achieved this milestone in 9 years and 26 days and so far been able achieve send out of 62.76 million metric tonnes of re-gasified LNG which is equivalent to 3096 million BTUs.  Dr Balyan attributed this success to the encouragement and support of Promoters, excellent world class infrastructures and very dedicated & competent employees of the company.

Shri Sudhir Vasudeva, CMD-ONGC, Shri P.K. Barman, ED, B & T, Shipping Corporation of India also addressed the audience and shared their experiences. Shrimati Avantika Singh, District Collector - Bharuch, during her address at the occasion commended Petronet of its achievement, having set a benchmark in the Oil & Gas industry and she also thanked Petronet for extending support to Community Development projects and working with State Government in Social projects.

Shri Vivek Rae in his address lauded the efforts of Petronet team and its senior management for steering the company towards this glorious achievement. He emphasized that we need to keep looking for new opportunities within and outside the country through exploration and development of energy assets.  Vote of thanks from Director (Finance) concluded the event.

Audiences were then enthralled by many colorful cultural programmes that followed after the formal celebration. The great show put up by the Dahej employees especially their spouses and kids was simply mesmerizing. The splendid performance they displayed was such that it will be remembered for so many performances to come in near future. MD & CEO was so much impressed with the performance that he made two important announcements. First important announcement was the grant of Rs 5 lakh to Ladies club Dahej. Second announcement that he made was whatever expenditure incurred by Dahej employees in arranging such a high quality cultural evening will be borne by Petronet LNG Ltd.

This prestigious moment reiterated to the world, the relentless hard work, perseverance and team work of the small, yet so special, Petronet family. This memorable event will always be remembered by everyone in times to come, and, will ensure to be a major stepping stone towards a promising and successful future of Petronet LNG Ltd in coming years.
